Ban Chiang Festival
Udon Thani’s Ban Chiang, an archaeological site where red pottery shards discovered in the 1960s turned out to be remnants of Asia’s oldest Bronze Age settlement, is one of Northeast Thailand’s shining attractions and is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
During the festival which takes place in February of every year, cultural shows both on stage and within the festival’s grounds are scheduled to fill the events with fun and educational experiences of the unique Isaan culture, including folk dancing and exhilarating Thai boxing matches. In addition to this, concerts of Isaan folk music shows, boat racing, cooking competitions, a Pong Lang musical show, and a light and sound presentation are among the several highlights of this festival.
